Was begrenzt uns, und was schützt uns? Wo erweitern Technologien unsere Freiheit, und wo schaffen sie neue Käfige?
Ausgehend von der Installation THE CAGE wird die Stadtkirche zum Resonanzraum für Fragen nach Identität, Freiheit und Verantwortung im technologischen Zeitalter. Die raumgreifende Arbeit aus hunderten handgefertigten Vogelkäfigen steht dabei sinnbildlich für die Spannungen unserer Gegenwart: zwischen Schutz und Begrenzung, zwischen Zugehörigkeit und Ausgrenzung, zwischen Fortschritt und Verantwortung.
Constanze Scherz und Dana Mahr geben einen Impuls zu Themen wie KI-Chatbots, Filterblasen, Neurodiversität, Prothetik und Transhumanismus, und zeigen, wie Technik unsere Vorstellungen vom Menschsein verändert.

Quantum technologies are rapidly advancing from fundamental research toward real-world applications with far-reaching societal, economic, and political implications, calling for systematic technology assessment. Researchers from the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) present current work that examines quantum technologies from a technology assessment perspective, combining conceptual analysis with empirical insights. Drawing on a recently published technology assessment study on quantum technologies, the talk highlights key results concerning societal expectations, governance challenges, and emerging fields of application. Particular attention is given to cross-cutting issues such as security, responsibility, inclusiveness, and the role of anticipatory assessment in early stages of technological development. The presentation concludes by outlining next steps, including the further development of coordinated TA approaches, expanded stakeholder engagement, and future research directions for responsible quantum innovation. The webinar will conclude with time for questions and discussion.

The impacts of digitalization on science and society in the quest for more sustainable futures Miramar Palace, Donostia-San Sebastián, July, 6-10, 2026
 
The PRAXIS research group at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU,
the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS, KIT
Karlsruhe) and the The Käte Hamburger Kolleg: Cultures of Research at RWTH
Aachen University will host an International Summer School for PhD students, titled
“The impacts of digitalization on science and society in the quest for more
sustainable futures”. The Summer School is part of the 45th edition of the UPV/EHU
Summer Courses in Donostia-San Sebastián.
 
The Call for Papers is open until 15th of February 2026.

Das Netzwerk Reallabore der Nachhaltigkeit und die TH Köln laden zur Reallaborkonferenz 2026 Wissenschaft, Praxis, Politik, Kommunen, Wirtschaft, Zivilgesellschaft sowie Kultur- und Kreativschaffende ein, die Zukunft der Reallaborforschung und Reallaborpraxis gemeinsam zu gestalten. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Wirkung, Weiterentwicklung und Lernprozesse von Reallaboren in gesellschaftlichen, ökologischen und technologischen Umbruchzeiten.
 
Reallabore in gesamtgesellschaftlichen Spannungsfeldern   Reallabore in Zeiten disruptiven Wandels Reallabore in der Alltagspraxis Kunst, Kultur und hybride Experimentier- und Diskursräume Wirkungsanalysen, Transferlogiken, Evaluation und Standardisierung Wissenschaftskommunikation und gesellschaftliche Lernprozesse Treiber, Hürden und regulatorische Rahmenbedingungen  
Die Konferenz versteht sich selbst als „Reallaborwerkstatt“: interaktiv, experimentell und dialogorientiert. Neben Fachbeiträgen stehen kollaborative und kreative Formate im Fokus.
 
Call for Abstracts: Konferenz-Beiträge einreichen
