BACK TO THE ROOTS OF TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT
For the first time, key TA articles from Germany, published from the late 1970s to the 1990s, are brought together in an English anthology. The texts recall important conceptual discussions that are still highly relevant today.

AWARD CEREMONY #KA2055
How will technology change life in Karlsruhe in 2055? Numerous schoolchildren artistically presented their ideas in the creativity competition "#KA2055: Unsere Stadt, unsere Zukunft" (Our city, our future). The best submissions were awarded prizes at a ceremony in October and are on display online.
CITIZENS DISCUSS KARLSRUHE'S FUTURE
How do we want to live tomorrow? In our city, with our neighbors, in a changing world? And what role can KIT play in this? These questions were the focus of the dialogue between citizens during the KIT Science Week 2025.

How can technologies be used for the sustainable development of democratic societies? This key question of technology assessment (TA) can be addressed by students in a new Bachelor’s degree course at KIT.

Elvira Tatiana Merino Benítez has successfully defended her doctoral thesis on "Steering socio-ecological systems toward sustainable trajectories” at the Institute of Ecology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Elvira Tatiana Merino Benítez joined ITAS as a visiting scientist in 2024 and has been working at the institute on a permanent basis since 2025.
Kirsten Gaber successfully defended her doctoral thesis on "Socio-economic and environmental sustainability of digitalized fruit production" at the University of Hohenheim in the summer of 2025. Using the Lake Constance region as an example, the expert in empirical research examined, among other things, how local stakeholders can contribute towards a more inclusive socio-technical transition of agriculture.
