Research group “Life, Innovation, Health, and Technology” (light)

The boundaries between life and technology, which once seemed clear, are becoming increasingly permeable. This can be seen in ever deeper and more extensive technical interventions in the human body and in non-human life, in tendencies toward the merging of humans and technology, but also in continuing technological advances in everyday and working life. Fields such as neurotechnology, prosthetics, synthetic biology, and increasingly technical (often digital) approaches to health are changing the images of the human being, understandings of life, professional fields, and health care. The convergence of biology and information technology, the bio-info-nexus, plays a central role here. The topics and fields mentioned and their responsible development (responsible research and innovation) are - supplemented by the topic of quantum technologies - the main research objects of the group and are examined both conceptually and empirically, e.g., based on case studies, considering TA aspects. In particular, participating stakeholders and citizens in research, development, and innovation processes complement the group’s methodological competence and are researched and (further) developed.
