Project description

The aim of the PAKoS joint project is to develop and implement a personalized cooperation manager. This will optimize the interaction between man and vehicle during automated driving and support plannable behavior in the various situations in a common space of action. The focus is on four R&D areas:

  • recognition of the user state
  • personalization and user profiling
  • personalized adaptation of and cooperation with the automation, and
  • design of concepts for cooperative interaction and user interfaces.

These four components of cooperation are to be integrated into a prototype demonstrator and finally evaluated in a user study.

ITAS’s central task in the project is to coordinate and conduct a technology assessment (TA) that accompanies these developments. The content of this assessment is geared to the requirements of the cooperation manager and the transition scenarios as defined in the course of the project. This is because ethical, legal, and social implications (such as camera-based monitoring of the vehicle interior and the use of individual user profiles) should be continuously addressed already in the design of the technical solution for the cooperation manager. In addition, empirical results of the overall project will be collected and made usable for TA.

Furthermore, it is intended to develop generalized recommendations with regard to the requirements for personalized, adaptive, cooperative systems.
