Narges Naraghi, Institut für Technikfolgenabschätzung und Systemanalyse (ITAS)
The MuT x TRIANGEL STAMMTISCH is back, inviting you to join in inspiring discussions.

AI ≠ inclusive Narges’s PhD, hosted by the KATE Graduate School and working at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS), explores the social and ethical consequences of being excluded from everyday AI technologies for people with disabilities. As reflected in the topic, the research focuses primarily on representational harms of AI, in contrast to allocative harms. This scoping is grounded in ethical AI scholarship, where social systems analysis is often described as a significant blind spot in AI research.
The study takes a critical standpoint, aiming to uncover the hidden power relations embedded in AI development and deployment. Building on this perspective, Narges will present two key contributions. First, how hidden meanings of “inclusivity” shape and sometimes undermine inclusive AI efforts for disabled communities. Second, the “enabling dilemma” of AI, showing how technologies can simultaneously empower and further marginalize disabled people.

Our STAMMTISCH is open to all - you can join and leave at any time.
