Competition for school students

What will life be like in Karlsruhe in 2055? What technologies will we use, and how will they change our lives? The “#KA2055: Our City, Our Future!” competition gives young people the opportunity to express their ideas and visions through art.

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, ITAS is organizing the ideas and creativity competition “#KA2055: Our City, Our Future!” School students from Karlsruhe are invited to artistically depict their hopes and ideas for life 30 years from now – as a podcast, short story, video, or drawing. The focus is on the question of what role technology should play in the future.

„Future buddies“ for support

The school students are supported by ITAS researchers working in the fields of AI and robotics, mobility, sustainability, the future of work, or technology ethics. As “future buddies,” they provide the participants with content-related impulses and are available to answer questions in various formats such as school visits or video calls.

All children and young people who go to school in Karlsruhe or Landkreis Karlsruhe (district) and are in grades 5 to 9 can take part. Both individual and group submissions are welcome. Registration for the competition starts in March 2025, with submissions closing on the last day of school before summer vacation.

A jury will award the best works with non-cash prizes, which will be handed out in the fall as part of the KIT Science Week 2025 "City of Future". (04.03.2025)
