Towards a global TA

Worldwide effects of technologies require a Technology Assessment (TA) beyond national borders. This provides the starting point for the edited book, which examines TA activities across the globe also regarding common approaches to global challenges.
Cover "Constructing a global technology assessment. Insights from Australia, China, Europe, Germany, India and Russia"

Technology Assessment is a Western invention, yet goals and methods of TA are becoming increasingly relevant around the world. Global implications of technologies, challenges such as climate change and changes in the relationship between science and society require new approaches, beyond national contexts, something which Julia Hahn and Miltos Ladikas are convinced of. Their edited book looks closely at the potentials and limitations of a global TA in light of these developments.

Experts from Australia, China, India, Russia and Germany provide insights into specific national TA practices, their framings and, based on this, perspectives for future needs and developments. These international insights should function as starting points for moving towards a global TA and constructing common understandings and approaches. (19.03.2019)
