The Advisory Board, headed by Michael Decker, will focus on the topic of "Frühe Öffentlichkeitsbeteiligung bei Industrie- und Infrastrukturprojekten" (Early public participation in industrial and infrastructure projects). The VDI, the largest engineering association of Germany, has recently published a comprehensive guideline to help companies involve stakeholders in the planning phase of projects.

As head of the Advisory Board, Decker also holds a seat on the Board of Directors, the highest decision-making body of the VDI. His term of office runs until 2017. He took over the chairmanship at the beginning of the year, following the scheduled retirement of Ortwin Renn, Professor of Environmental Sociology and Technology Assessment at the University of Stuttgart, who wished his successor all the best for the future.
