German Parliament again entrusts Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe with the operation of the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Parliament (TAB) [13.06.2002]

The parliamentary decision on the future of the Büro für Technikfolgen-Abschätzung beim Deutschen Bundestag (Office of Technology Assessment at the German Parliament, TAB) has been taken. In its meeting on June 12, 2002, the Committee for Research, Education and Technology Assessment of the German Parliament (Deutscher Bundestag) decided to again charge the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe with the operation of TAB. The Institut für Technikfolgenabschätzung und Systemanalyse (Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis, ITAS) of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe will therefore continue to run TAB for the period 2003 to 2008. According to the organisational arrangement for this period, the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems Analysis and Innovation Research (Fraunhofer ISI), Karlsruhe, will cooperate with the Research Center in specified areas.

Since its creation in 1990, TAB has been run by the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe. It is an independent organisational unit of the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS). The present director of TAB is Professor Dr. Armin Grunwald who is also director of ITAS.
