Institute for Technology Assessment and  Systems Analysis (ITAS)

Organization

The Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) is a research institute of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Research University in the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. After a long institutional history, ITAS was founded on 1 July 1995. Since October 1999, it has been headed by Prof. Dr. Armin_Grunwald.

The research activities belong to the research field Energy and the new research field Information (formerly research field Key Technologies) of the Helmholtz Association and are carried out in the cross-center program Technology, Innovation, and_Society. ITAS is the largest partner in the program and provides its spokesperson.

The Institute is part of KIT’s Division II –  Informatics, Economy, and Society. Interdisciplinary research topics are coordinated in the KIT Centers Humans and Technology, Climate and Environment, and Energy. Prof. Dr. Armin Grunwald and Prof. Dr. Dr. Rafaela Hillerbrand hold chairs at KIT.

The approximately 120 scientific staff members of the Institute are involved in numerous projects, worked on in ten interdisciplinary research_groups.
