Traveling by plane plus train

Frankfurt Airport is 1h 10 min away by train while from Stuttgart Airport it takes 1 h 30 mins to get to Karlsruhe. Because of the slow connection from Stuttgart Airport via Stuttgart main station it is recommended to fly via Frankfurt Airport. There are Inter City Express (ICE) trains going from Frankfurt Airport Station to Karlsruhe every hour, partly you have to change trains in Mannheim on the same platform.

Traveling by train only

Coming from the Netherlands and Belgium Karlsruhe main station can be reached via Cologne within about two hours. From France it takes three hours from Paris, Gare de l’Est, using TGV Est via Strasbourg to get to Karlsruhe main station without changing trains. Switzerland is within a reach of 1 h 40 mins  via Basel. For further information see http://www.karlsruhe-tourismus.de/en/plan/arrival.

Public transport in Karlsruhe

From the central train station it takes about 15 minutes to come to the ITAS site in the middle of the city. Several tram and city train lines bring you to the stop 'Europaplatz' (see http://en.kvv.de). If you leave the train station to direction City you will find four tracks on the 'Bahnhofsplatz'. Best choose city train S1 or S11 departing from the first track going rightward (direction to Neureut, Leopoldshafen or Hochstetten) and get out at the stop 'Europaplatz'. From here it is just a short walk to ITAS.
