European Conference on "Technology Assessment and Policy Areas of Great Transitions" [21.02.2013]

The first European Conference on Technology Assessment "Technology Assessment and Policy Areas of Great Transitions" will take place in Prague, 13th - 15 March 2013. Areas undergoing great transitions are e.g. health care and medicine, energy supply, climate change and mobility, and of course all areas of society affected by the increasing use of computer technology.

The keynote speakers are Wiebe Bijker, Naomi Oreskes and Rut Bisková. The European conference aimed at taking stock of and supporting exchange on TA capacities available in Europe is organized in the framework of the FP7 funded project "Parliaments and Civil Society in Technology Assessment" (PACITA). PACITA is a four-year project aimed at increasing the capacity and enhancing the institutional basis for knowledge-based policy-making on issues involving science, technology and innovation, mainly based upon the diversity of practices in Parliamentary Technology Assessment (PTA). The conference is jointly organized by the "Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic" (TC) and ITAS. Participation is free.
