New source of information: EPTA Briefing note no. 1 [22.02.2012]

The network of parliamentary TA institutions in Europe, EPTA (European Parliamentary Technology Assessment), aims to inform about the work of EPTA and state its position on current issues of science- and technology politics by disseminating so-called "Briefing notes".

The first "Briefing note" on "Synthetic biology" was published at the end of last year. This EPTA briefing was produced by an EPTA working group. The main contributors were Johan Evers (IST, Institute Society & Technology, Flemish Parliament, Belgium), Leonhard Hennen (TAB, Office of Technology Assessment at the German Parliament), Leonie Kertess (TAB), Arnold Sauter (TAB), Dirk Stemerding (Rathenau Institute, Netherlands), Tore Tennøe (NBT, Norwegian Board of Technology) and Helge Torgersen (ITA, Institute of Technology Assessment, Austria).

The EPTA network was formally established in 1990 under the patronage of the President of the European Parliament, Mr Enrique Baron Crespo. The network is made up by technology assessment institutions in Europe advising parliaments.
