Final Project Conference on Sustainable Urban Tourism (SUT-Governance), June 23-24, 2003, Heidelberg, Germany [10.04.2003]

A final 1.5-day "SUT-Governance" Project Conference will be held June 23th - 24th 2003, in Heidelberg, Germany. The conference will discuss the project methods and conclusions to inform further extensions of sustainable tourism development concepts. It will bring together approximately 50 European experts in urban tourism with project members, partner cities and partnerships representatives. Local and national policymakers, private sector representatives, non-profit groups, and European officials will engage in discussions to further bridge science and practice in governance for sustainable urban tourism and advance the role of multi-stakeholder partnerships as effective means of delivering policy and pursuing sustainable community development.

The preliminary Conference Program is now available. Further details, final contributions and the participants will continuously be announced on the projects web-site. The project will welcome other colleagues from the research, policy and the private sector community to join us at this meeting to discuss opportunities for new collaborations in the field and particularly in the evolving Sixth Framework Research Program of the European Union where the SUT-Governance Consortium is already coordinating a large bid initiative.

For further details and information about the conference, please contact the Project Coordinator Dr. Krassimira Paskaleva-Shapira.
